Description: There is an opening in the Clinical Neuropsychology Track (Child) of our Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for the 2017-2018 academic year (start dates flexible from 7/1/2017-9/30/2017). This track, designed to provide specialty training in Child Neuropsychology, is offered in collaboration with The Help Group, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to serving young people with special needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Mental Retardation, and Behavioral Disruptive Disorders (for further details, please see our Program Brochure, Collaborating Centers of Excellence).
Fellows in this track spend three days per week at The Help Group’s nearby Sherman Oaks Campus, providing neuropsychological services under the supervision of UCLA faculty who specialize in child clinical neuropsychology. Two days per week are spent at the UCLA campus in Westwood, seeing patients as part of the Medical Psychology Assessment Center, and participating in an extensive set of didactic offerings with other trainees. Fellows gain experience in assessment of children with a wide range of clinical conditions including ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Epilepsy; there are opportunities for fellows to participate in presurgical assessments, including Wada testing, intraoperative mapping, and presurgical fMRI. Extensive research opportunities are also available.
We have 54 faculty participating in training, among whom 17 are full-time, 17 are board certified by ABPP in Clinical Neuropsychology, and 13 specialize in child neuropsychology. Our program is typically two years in duration, but we will consider offering a one-year program for individuals who already have completed one or more years of postdoctoral training. UCLA Semel Institute and Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital offers a comprehensive package of benefits, and anticipated salaries for the 2017-2018 academic year will be at least $48,216.
For further details please see our brochure at https://www.semel.ucla.edu/psychology/fellowship.
Requirements: Applicants must have completed all requirements for their degree prior to enrolling including completion of coursework and a dissertation from a regionally accredited university and satisfactory completion of an internship meeting APA/APPIC standards. The program will not participate in the APPCN match process.
