Contract Supervision with NPTC
Are you interested in being a supervisor? If you are a licensed psychologist, you might be able to provide telesupervision to our intern cohorts. We are compiling a list of individuals who would be willing to be a contract supervisor either with one of our member sites, or other agencies as telesupervisors when needed.
Are you currently at an agency that is in need of licensed psychologist supervisors? Reach out to admin@psychologyinterns.org for more information about working with one of our contract supervisors!
How does this work?
You will let us know of your interest and after completing some forms for us, you’ll be officially on “the list.” Sites can then reach out to ask for contact information for potential contract supervisors in their area. We will provide them with a list of names and contact information for them to reach out and discuss what they are needing in more depth. You will then be able to negotiate what your contract will look like for that experience, and you will always have the ability to turn down a request if the timing is not right for you. If the site is one of our member sites, then you may need to complete some training requirements (manual review and CE training in supervision), depending on the role assigned to you. If the agency is one that is not affiliated with NPTC, then there would be no other NPTC requirements or expectations.
What do I need to do?
- Fill out the survey indicating you wish to join the list. Select the option No Region / Contract Supervisor / Dissertation Support.
- Submit your CV information via the form provided by NPTC staff.
- Look for Contract Supervisor Welcome Packet email from our team confirming receipt of the survey.
Completing these steps gets you on our list. If one of our agencies needs a supervisor and you fit their criteria, they will reach out to you and negotiate a contract.

Am I qualified to provide supervision?
If you are a licensed psychologist who contracts with one of our sites, we just ask that you have had at least 6 hours of supervisor CE training experience. If you have not had this training, we will provide the CE courses for you at no cost to you at the time you are contracted to provide supervision. If you have recently attended a CE supervisor training (within the past year) you can also provide us with the CE certificate for proof of completion. Depending on your assigned role you may also be asked to watch our manual orientation recording to make sure you are aware of all of our policies and procedures for the internship program.
While our main focus is to add access to licensed psychologists for our partner sites, we’d still be interested in hearing from you if you are licensed in another discipline and would like to be considered for some secondary telesupervision as well!
Can I be a supervisor for more than one agency at a time?
Yes! There are no limits on our end to what you are able to provide. Please note that some state licensing bodies might have restrictions on the number of supervisees a supervisor is able to have at one time, but NPTC does not have any regulations to that effect.
I’m not sure I have time right now to provide supervision, should I sign up later instead?
We encourage anyone who is interested to sign up now. Signing up does not entail any immediate responsibilities beyond providing your CV information. If an agency reaches out to you then you have the right to decline if the timing or terms of the proposed contract do not work for you.
Is the supervision in person?
The purpose of this resource is to primarily offer options for telesupervision opportunities. If you are local to the site seeking the contract supervision, you could have the option to do a hybrid experience or in-person supervision if that worked for you. However, sites will be informed that contract supervisors will likely be expecting telesupervision experiences unless they specify otherwise.
What if I’m not licensed in one of the listed NPTC Region states?
When we get requests for contract supervisors, we will only provide the site(s) with the list of individuals who are appropriately licensed for their area. While this resource is mainly for our member sites, we do hope to expand this resource to our alumni and other agencies around the country who may need supervisors as well. Also, NPTC is always looking to grow! You might be licensed in a future NPTC region state! If you ever expand where you are licensed, please update us so that we can provide the most accurate information to our sites.
What happens once I agree to a contract?
If the contract is with an NPTC member site, then the Training Director at that site would update NPTC with your supervisor status and the timeframe for your contract. You would then be required to be compliant with all training expectations appropriate to your assigned role. You would complete the supervision assignments during the timeframe for your contract. At the end of your contract period you could negotiate with the site to stay on longer if the need still exists, or your contract will end and you will go back on the contract supervisor list if you wish to continue in that role.
Will I be employed by NPTC?
No. NPTC’s role in this experience is to provide access to the resource. You will be a contract employee of the agency and have full autonomy to negotiate the terms of your contract as you see fit.
