Full-time Child Team Leader/Clinical Psychologist Supervisor

The position will be located at Lakewood Counseling, an outpatient behavioral health clinic serving outlying areas of Kansas City metro area, including the southeast suburbs, and housing both Adult and Child treatment teams. We see a diverse range of patients from varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Child & Adolescent team is a cohesive unit comprised of psychologists, qualified mental health providers (Masters-level social work, counseling), psychiatrists, and psychiatry residents. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a high level of clinical care, and to implement evidence-based practices whenever possible. Current modalities include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-based skills, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) techniques, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Love & Logic parenting techniques. Common presenting concerns treated include: Anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic symptoms, OCD, behavioral difficulties, ADHD, DMDD, ASD, Borderline personality traits, grief & loss issues, and adjustment disorders.

We are looking for a licensed provider who can complement our already existing skills, while also bringing their own areas of interest and specialization to contribute to the team learning environment. The ideal candidate is someone who feels confident in their skillset, while also being excited to continue learning and challenging themselves through consultation with those around them. The team leader/clinical psychologist supervisor will provide leadership to his/her team and oversight of day to day practices to include staff development both clinically and administratively. The position requires clinical and administrative management skills to ensure that services are delivered to meet discipline standards for clinical, accreditation and fiscal accountability. Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting and overseeing performance improvement measures, while working to develop and improve program services. Additionally, staff recruitment and retention are within the purview of this role. The position will be half time administrative and half time clinical.

Opportunities exist for psychologists to pursue faculty appointments (Clinical track, rank commensurate with experience level) through the UMKC School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. Psychologists are encouraged to take an active role in the academic medical community through providing psychiatry resident didactics, student supervision, and opportunities to present in the community (symposiums, etc.).

Required Skills:

  • Licensed in the State of Missouri as a Psychologist, LPC, or LCSW
  • Two to five years of supervisory experience
  • Must have knowledge of psychiatric terminology, the process of diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of psychotherapy and have basic research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability, and social facility are required for the ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and to provide education to staff and in the community
  • Must be able to demonstrate good independent judgment, adapt to new duties, and work in a changing environment

Preferred Skills:

  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology
  • Five to seven years of supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with implementation of evidence based practices
