University Health Behavioral Health is a leader in the treatment of mental health and provides a comprehensive array of mental health services. University Health Behavioral Health provides training opportunities for psychology practicum students, doctoral interns, and post-doctoral residents, as well as trainees in other disciplines, such as psychiatry, social work, and counseling.

Post-doctoral positions are available at both outpatient behavioral health clinics. Lakewood Counseling serves the outlying areas of Kansas City metro area, including the southeast suburbs and Crossroads Counseling is located within the Crossroads Arts District and serves the metro area and those in Jackson County.  Both clinics are comprised of Adult and Child treatment teams. Patient population includes a diverse range of individuals from varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, a post-doctoral position is available at the Lakewood Medical Center campus embedded within the UMKC Family Medicine Residency primary care clinic. This training experience focuses on developing integrated behavioral health care skill, while working in an interdisciplinary educational environment.

Each clinic is comprised of psychologists, qualified mental health providers (Masters-level social workers and counselors), psychiatrists, and psychiatry residents working closely together in a cohesive unit. We are looking for a post-doctoral resident or provisionally licensed psychologist who can complement our already existing skills, while also bringing their own areas of interest and specialization to contribute to the team learning environment. The ideal candidate is someone who feels confident in their skillset, while also excited to continue learning, challenging themselves through consultation, and open to feedback from those around them.
