E.8.24.CEN – University Health Training Manual Addendum

Site Learning Activities and Requirements

All interns will participate in the internship learning activities as specified in the manual. Specific site activities/rotations/requirements above and beyond what is listed in the manual are provided below:

Group supervision: Group supervision occurs during treatment team and consultation meetings and during a dedicated 1-hour block conducted between all University Health interns and a licensed psychologist, generally a different psychologist than the individual supervisors. This time generally includes a combination of didactic information and exercises related to professional development, supervision-of-supervision, and other topics that occur over the year that interns choose to discuss in a group format. As with individual supervision, it is important interns come prepared with questions and aid in the direction that group supervision proceeds.

It is expected that the internship and training activities come first and any other roles/duties are secondary to the completion of the internship program.

Leave Time

Paid Time Off (PTO):

14 days (112 hours) combined vacation and sick leave available from your first day. Holidays are also listed as PTO days, so intern PTO totals will read 184 hours to account for observed holidays.

Professional Development Leave:

3 days (24 hours) of professional development leave.Professional Development time is not considered PTO time. To use this time, interns will coordinate their schedules with their Primary Supervisor and Training Director, and track the hours as hours worked in their local system and as “Professional Development Leave” in the NPTC time tracking portal.

Given the nature of working in a hospital setting, additional vacation days must be coordinated to ensure consistent coverage, and no specific days off outside of the actual recognized holidays are guaranteed.

In an effort to promote self-care, interns are encouraged to utilize all leave time. Per University Health policy, if an employee who has been employed for at least six months resigns from University Health with proper notice or is subject to job elimination, the employee will be paid, in full, for all PTO in the employee’s available balance prior to the date of separation. Employees are not eligible for the PTO accrual in the pay period in which the separation occurs. Under all other circumstances, the employee will not be paid for any accumulated but unused PTO. Since Professional Development time is not considered a type of PTO, unused Professional Development will not be paid out at the end of the year.
